What's new October 2001

The AGM of the society was held on Wednesday 3rd October. The following were discussed at the meeting:

  • "GREEK Week"
    • New SoUL week
    • emphases not on drinking but on "Healthy Body, Healthy Mind"
  • Reminder to all to get their ULSU ID cards before November 5th.
  • Events to be run during GREEK Week.
    1. Retrogaming competition.
      • donation of machines for the few days was requested.
      • games played will be Pac-Man, Space Invaders etc.
      • Help on the day will be required.
    2. Install-fest
      • We hope to run a Linux Install-fest which is basically where people can bring along their computers and get Linux installed on them by experienced users.
      • Type of people required.
        • People who want Linux installed on their machines - they do not have to be computer society members
        • People who don't trust us to install Linux on their machines but want to see how it's done.
  • Workshops
    • From week 4 we will be running workshops on how to use skynet and its connected services.
  • T-Shirts
    • There was a general consensus that people wanted some Skynet merchandise. We are going to get a logo designed and printed on T-Shirts and possibly Jackets of some sort depending on demand.
  • Election of new committee.
    • New committee members are as follows:
      • President: Mel Gorman (mel)
      • Treasurer: Daren Nestor (daren)
      • Secretary: Diarmaid O'Loughlin (dollar)
      • PRO : Bruce Richardson (darkstar)
      • Ass. PRO : Ewan Oughton (chronos)
      • Admins : Martin Donlon (akawaka), Gerard Guckian (hyper) (ITD liaison)
